Diesels don't really make sense in NZ until the Govt gets off its ass and provides some real incentive for people to buy more economical and greener cars.

heheee you should try here we run as part of our fleet 10 smaller diesel vehicles (vans and 4WDs ) the government make it bloody hard to justify buying a smaller better for enviroment Modern diesel....So much for them trying to make us all green

its justified if you drive on private land and not on public roads. You dont pay RUCs then.

So essentially RUCs are for damage to the roads?

this is actually quite easy Diesel does not have a tax for road use incorporated in the cost as over 50% of the fuel used is by tractors/bullies/excavators which are not used on the roads(much) so to protect our agricultural industry the fuel is not taxed...

ALL (or near enuff) Petrol is in road going vehicles so this has a road use tax incorporated in it,

Ive made my point several times around this, but to my mind the large vehicles are charged far less than they should be with the majority of passenger vehicles bearing the brunt.

I do agree that road going diesels should pay, my main beef has always been how much less they pay vs commercial vehicles whicvh can write off RUCs as business expense anyways.

agree concept 1 is just as nice. But lets be honest - how often to you see ridiculous flashy unpractical concept futuristic cars then come production time they turn into your everyday family wagon.

bets on it turning out more like concept 1 which is far more realistic imo

I prefer the 1st concept aswell.

I beleave the Concept II is close to production verson. Most likely minus all the carbon fiber stuff.

The bonnet is longer and higher conpaired to the original concept most likely to meet the pedressian crash stuff.

Also the concept II is designed by a different design place.

The white and black FT86 is the G sport verson and is a turbo model.
