Sounds more like a component failure

You said the steering went light - so either

A, you were airborne and lost traction that way - not likey if speed was low

B, a comonent failed making the steering go light

Just for interest, were was ya GF at the time :)

Glad you both all good tho !

dam thats sad.

the exact same thing happened to me when i was 18, on a very similar looking corner.

My car at the time had good quality 215 tyres on and i would go around this corner everyday as it was 2 corners away from home. I borrowed my aunts 1300 corrola to pick up my parents from the airport as mine was broken.

went around the corner under the speed limit but obviously faster than the little 13" cheap tyres could handle. the rear lost traction and due to lack of experience i sent the car spinning down a bank through a wall.

Its a lesson to be learned about wheel/tyre choice and taking it easy in an unfamilar car.

glad you guys are ok.

Upside-downers are terrifying... just as much for passengers (been there done that). Very lucky you were going fairly slowly or you'd have some epic whiplash and seatbelt bruises to say the very least :(

Props to you for posting this up Ray. Hopefully the wanking will stop and people can see this for what it is - a sage warning that no one is immune. IMO let the police dissect the event, dear forum, and take this the way it was intended.

i had an accident once.

I did too. My parents 3 month old car. That I took without them knowing. That I crashed into Peter Jackson's house. That I totaled. That they had to prosecute me for theft so they could get insurance. Good times.

I didn't, but I broke his brick fence, and put a crack all along it. It's still there around the bays in Wgtn ! I did get to do community service, teaching kids how to play basketball at summer school. With a guy who put a cops head through a window. I volunteered to do it again the next year it was so much fun. They said no, as I couldn't actually play basketball.

when i lived in Blenheim years ago... on a country road i was 1st on the sceen when some mates in a RX4 slid sideways at 200Kph into a power pole after failing to take a easy corner and over correcting.. split the RX4 in 3 and the engine was found smouldering in a paddock 200m away.

Two died.. 1 lived, Speedo was found stuck with the needle off the clock.

i was in a ghey datsun 180b SSS coupe that had real bad wheel balance and cudnt go over 120 with out rattling the car to bits lol

Mattapo will know the road, the one going up to the dam/lake past Wairau hospital.

still got pics of the car in bits at the towys garage

lol caspros that really did make me lol

It does in reflection. But at the time, seeing my Mum's tears as the cops bought me home, that kinda changed things in regards to how I drove. Didn't stop me being a complete pratt though.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
