Bridgestone RE002 - Anyone running them yet?

Anyone got links to technical specs for the RE002 ?

The Bridgestone NZ website is BS !

The only place to find UTQG ratings appear to be on the side of the tyre!

The old RE001 was 220, softer than T1R's and GSD3's (both 280) but harder than the RE11 (180), RE050A (140) or RE070 (140).

newsuba, I don't have a link to it but I remember reading an article that said the RE002 has the same treadwear rating as the RE001 (220).

I still have the alignment sheets from most of my alignments and they all look ok. After I put the lowering springs in I asked for more negative camber dialed in so it's running an extra 0.5 - 1 degree of negative camber all round. I've had them rotated a couple of times too so the worn outside edges were on the inside.

The trackday pretty much fucked them though, they probably couldn't handle the heat

why dont you try more camber then? I run -1.5 on the front of mine on the street

I got told today they're not releasing them until they sell out the the re001's

so common sizes like 215 40 17's they had heaps of old stock

All the tyre shops I've asked said they would sell me either at the same price. I was hoping to get some RE001s on the cheap since they're running them out

Yea I'll be getting another alignment when I have the full set of new tyres on so will look into it then

Comparing treadwear ratings doesn't always seem to mean much in the real world though, especially between different manufacturers.

FWIW I got much better life from RE001 than I ever had from T1R or GSD3 - the centre of the tread probably wore at a similar rate but the soft sidewalls of the T1R and GSD3 chewed out a lot faster and were a lot more vulnerable to getting sliced up and punctured on gravel.

It may pay to stock up on a set then. As my T1-R's are on the blink...

Who generally stocks the old stock? My last set of 001's about 2 years ago were $170 a piece in the 40 profile 17"

Most tyre shops still stock the RE001s but they aren't selling them any cheaper. Got the 002s fitted to the front yesterday. First impressions are pretty good

Also got an alignment done and although I asked specifically for more negative camber I ended up with less than what it was already running so I'm pretty annoyed about that... Didn't have time to get them to redo it on the spot but its going back there in a couple of weeks anyway so will sort it then

This is the camber it's now running: LF=-0.45deg, RF=-1.01, LR=-0.39, RR=-0.24

Anyone know how much camber you can run without using camber bolts?

Whiteline recommend something like -1.5deg front and -1 to 1.5deg rear, with max castor. If it's possible to run that on a factory Subaru then I won't be leaving until I see that on the alignment sheet haha

Both above are correct, u wont get more than about 1 deg, if you cant get close to 1 deg id say something is bent, rear camber isnt adjustable, but id personally recommend lowering it, the geometry of the suspension itself will add camber, and help the rear wear more evenly

maybe concider an anti lift kit as well, they give it more castor (moves the wheel forward in the wheel arch) which gives you more camber while your wheels are turned.

If you take it to a suspension specialist alot of time they may just slot your holes in the strut, camber bolts aren't ideal as they use alot thinner bolt that has a lobe on it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hey, can't really give a full review as I'm only running them on the front at the moment

All I can say is that I've been really impressed with the grip so far, especially in the wet. Much better than my MY01s were. Not much road noise either

Doubt you will be disappointed

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
