STATE insurance

When I bought insurance with STATE, I explained that my car doesn't have an aftermarket alarm, just the factory immobiliser. I stated this explicitly and asked whether there would be an additional theft excess on top of the basic $500 + $450 for being aged 21-24 and was told no there wouldn't be.

I later asked whether it was worth me bothering to get an alarm installed by an NZSA approved installer since, to my understanding, I've already got the lowest premium/excess my security system can give me. But then the person who I set up my insurance with has turned around and said that being only a factory fitted immobiliser, there will be an additional $4500 theft excess on top of the $950. Can she/STATE do this? I agreed to the insurance policy on the pretense of a $950 excess with the existing security system, NOT $950 + $4500. Consumer guarantees act and so on...

The policy says "security immobiliser (to insurer standards)"

Your buggered

Fit the alarm as the paperwork does say to insurer standards and that means minimum alarm. Sucks that she lied to you but thats not unheard of in the industry for loser sales people desperate to make budget...

Me and a friend of mine have had our insurance through state for years, was easy as pie when I claimed a new windscreen, and when he wrote off his car I don't believe he had any problems.

Like all insurance companies / companies in general, who you deal with is more reflective in the service you get than the company itself, in most cases.

My car had no alarm when I bought it so they imposed a $3800 extra excess on theft until I got one put in...so fairly standard and ENTIRELY reasonable! Would you insure a non alarmed turbo suburu without a big theft excess if you were in their shoes? I think not. (Not sure if your car is turbo but still)

Lame! And did they gave any reason for it being $3500?

Because I was 16 and it was a Subaru

Yar sunshine go read the policy documents, ALL insurance companies have additional imposed excesses ontop of the normal excess for drivers under 25...

That is standard

So the below should read: "I was a silly sod and did not read my insurance documents correctly and missed hte excess bits about drivers under 25, Woops my bad lesson learnt"

Pretty lame blaming others for your own negligence mate ::)

State are pretty shoddy. I had a 950 excess on my first subaru, then I was hit and when I claimed they declared my excess to be 3500 (the car was only 2000k). Never going back to State ever.

Get of it, my policy which was emailed to me and mailed to me said my excess was 950 with NO mention of an additional charge. In nice big letters on the front page it said 950. Smart ass.

How about you change your post to "I know everything and have exclusive access to other peoples insurance documents"

If you were hit and it was not your fault your excess does not apply...

I HAVE THEM HERE! I HAVE READ AND REREAD THEM

CAPS LOCK

Get your Policy Document AND YOUR POLICY SCHEDULE

Policy Wording is for everyone, Schedule is specifically for you.

If you really have a problem, go to the Insurance and Savings Ombudsman, it cost state $1000 each time someone goes to it. They will resolve any problems for you for free.

Bullshit.

I'm under 25 (21), had two claims and have never been stung with an "extra excess". My excess is $500, I know, I've paid it twice.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
