So...its time to say good bye to the Legacy.

Its been an awesome car over the last 5 years and we havent had to do one single mechanical thing to it,

however, the family grows, and we need some more space.

Wife is keen for a Commy or Falcon. Ive limited the choices (woah is me cos I want a HSV) but itll be an SV6 or an XR6T

We could go a VE Sv6 or try to find a tidy xr6t.

195kw vs 230kw stock but 5 speed auto vs 4 speed auto unless we find a manual.

Peoples thoughts or experiences?

I dislike the falcons interiors slightly and their shape but i dislike the sv6s arent that grunty for such a big car and your limited for power upgrades.

Im a fence sitter in the holden falcon arguement btw.

Trying to compromise space, luggage, grunt (for me) and fuel economy for day to day driving around town.

My father has a ?2010? xr6t. He likes it, and it is fairly grunty (more power than an STi but also more weight so in a straight line they feel similar).

I\'m really not a fan of the interior but otherwise a nice vehicle. His previous car was an xr6 non-turbo and that blew the heater core just after the warranty ran out (expensive fix), but the xr6t has been trouble free thus far as far as I am aware.

It\'ll go through tyres faster than a legacy, from the impression I get from him.

I\'m a big Holden Fan but I would pick the XR6 Turbo given that choice.

There a nice car to drive and seem to be quite improvable power wise should you choose to. Apparently the turbos shit out quite early though, I dont know if thats just a rumor or not.

Not 100% sure what they say is the fuel usage, but I had an xr6t ute 06, used approx 14-16l per 100km could get it down to 13 driving nicely on open roads. I found they had shitty brakes aswell. And also seem to go through wheel bearings. But still a super nice and powerful car.

I\'d go for the commy aye. Dads got a vz sv6 that he uses for a taxi and in the last 300,000kms the only thing he had to replace was the engine mounts. That\'s not including the regular services. His fuel economy is shit arse atm but he expected that. Overall dads had quite a few fords and he\'s never going back lol the new VE commys got that sidi shit so ends up being quite economical around town too. Dads last vt commy did nearly 500,000kms and was a mint runner. No gearbox or motor issues.

Neither of those options appeal, I dont know what the later model commodes are like BUT i know that the \'01 V8 Calais that my parents just got rid off was a POS, nothing major mechanically wrong with it,(the V8 was bloody noice) BUT by christ the build quality was crap, when we sold it it had done 150,000km ( so not overly high) in its life I had replaced/upgraded the front brakes( stock was scary), renewed all of the rear suspension bushes, fitted new rear diff input seal, replaced knock sensor, replaced ABS/airbag computer( fark that was expensive),also various trim bits and pieces fell off, the calais badge fell off after only like 6 months, the bulbs in the heater controls blew so when it was dark you could not see shite.

So all in all it was a POS, I hated it and pushed very hard from the time they got it for them to sell it, I know people get a good run out of them BUt we didn\'t and it came down to useless build quality.

I would buy anything before buying a ford or a holden (anything),if you need a bigger car than the Legacy, i would look into the euros, Bmw.Audi,Merc

XR6 Turbo definitely.

Mainly for powers sake, 240kw stock but if you get it tuned apparently you can get 300kw out of them standard and up around 340kw just with injectors.

Dad had both as company cars (in wagon non-turbo form) hated the commy (less power, harsher ride and he hated the TCS/trip computer thing) however loved the falcon.

6 of one half dozen the other

Coon will suck gas like mad, but as said can be ridic rapid for not much $$, and both are big cars heavy on tyres / expendables

The SV6 doesn\'t compare - a normal SS is at least in the same ballpark but... yeah gas $

For similar money could get a pretty sweet audi wagon (for example?)

I just bought a 2008 legacy gt auto and its super comfy and pretty quick. Done around 300kms driving and its averaged 10.2l per 100km so pretty good bang for buck. Dont think anything else out there could compare really with regards to price and overall package.

Stock ba xr6 turbos arent hellish fast but as its been stated they have great potential....if thats what youre after.

We looked at the BP as that was first choice for me obviously but no way did it have as much space as the either the commy or falcon.

Currently looking at a 08 FG xr6t 6 spd auto, leather nz new.

All within budget too and 270kw.

i dont see how a falcon sedan has more room and a legacy wagon........ i know falcons are big but not that big

Lots more room for feet and such, roomier in cabin from what I have seen but not so much storage space.

id go for one of the new foresters im wanting to get one of the turbo diesel ones within the next year or so

Interesting choice, i would still prefer the 2.5 turbo

the diesel still makes good power but 6l per 100kms ill take that.

at the end of the day if they were both sitting there it prob grab the 2.5t :D

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
