DIY Prevention

Hey people,

Alright so we all know that immobilisers and quality alarm systems dont always work against theft, right, are there any other sneaky tricks that you can do to prohibit/stall a Thief apart from cutting a few wires/smashing your ignition barrell etc.? For example, unplugging a couple of your coil packs so your car is only firing on two cylinders, orrrr those steering wheel braces etc.? I have a car with a pretty average alarm system, it's 5 star or whatever but it's on its way out, so just thinking of other little preventions that'd stump a thief for a while...

you can also steer the car with some vise grips as ive seen befor. . .

probly deter joy riders, not people who want the car for parts. . . unless the wanted the steering wheel hahaha :P

nothing a dirty big set of bolt cutters wouldnt deal to tho.

best thing you can do is fit a kill switch where only you know where it is.

and this thread goes in exactly the same direction as the many before.......

no matter how complicated you get you always end up giving up on your own devices and return to the simple key/fob security

anything else 'seems' to be a PITA

failing that a hidden kill switch in line/with relay on cam sensor or the Detachable Steering wheel option is best, something simple that your mechanic or mate doesnt have to be taught how to use etc

wht i have found to be good is a wireless kill switch, coz it can be hidden anywere. . . say you wanted to kill your fuel pump, it could be hiden under the rear seat. over time with a normal kill switch if its under carpet you can start to see it, the dirt build up makes it easy to spot and theres only so many places you can hide it.

would that then be giving away my secret. . . :P

one could use something like this

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Security-locks-alarms/Locks/Other/auction-238555705.htm

i used something simialler but cheaper.

just have to give it power, coz i did my ecu there was power there.

but if you ran a +12v off the ACC (taken from the back of the fuse box, easier hidden), then it would be fail safe also and will also make it so it is in off state as soon as you turn off the ignition

GPS is the only fool proof way.

Sure itll get taken but at least youll know where it is and can shut it down or go after them with a few mates and some bats.

oh yes... the peoples approach ... it's a winner

so basically keep you alarm fob inside the car....

or Install a Key pad (dont wire it up just light it up to make it look too hard to start)

wouldnt you keep the key alarm fob on your keys. . . so its with you?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
