hate: Twin turbos of any model pretty much, the "FWD" fuse that makes the car FWD (why the fuck didnt they just make it a RWD switch?)

love: suby rumble, the way the engines look (most old people look under the bonnet of a suby and go how the fuck does this work?>>)

how gt/rs come standard with momo shit (steering wheel etc)

interchangable parts definately an awesome one, like swapping vf10 with vf22 ^_^

alot of the standard 17" wheels on newer subis look GANGS on older subies (i.e; mine with gtb wheels)

the sound of a subaru with a wastegate = thumbs up, when the misses is bitching, theres no way she can yell louder that a screaming wastegate :P (yeah fuckit i love wastegates), aftermarket bits are piece of piss to get a hold of. yeh i cant be fudgd typing anymore

Well for a start the Boxer engine. Im not kean on V8s/V6s Inlines and Rotarys.

How the Old stuff keeps going and goin and going.

Big fan of the Boxer 6s :D

360, FF1, 1400, 1600, Leone, Omega, Alcyone, SVX are all pretty cool ;D :P

For Me subarus are In the blood. Almost every one in the family has had 1 at somestage. dads ownership from 1975 with a 1974 DL and 1974 GSR.

XT6 and SVX has so many cool features about it :P

I love the rumble, but I also love the fact that I can buy a 13s car for $4k.... Not many other manufacturers offer anything with that value for money. Or that versatile.

downsides, well do we really need to discuss them? I think we should all know them rather well by now.

Cheap WRX's are drastically reducing the IQ of subaru owners.

Sad but true.

There are so many horribly modified WRX's out there now that i am begining to be embarrased about owning a subaru.

But 1 mans poison is another mans pleasure.

You speak the truth. But I come from a Skyline owning background - and trust me, Skyline owners have it much worse!

On a more positive note, those cheap cars are useful to people like me who use them for motorsport - cheap panels and gearboxes :)

Parked up on the boat ramp last night for non-tarmac photos. Maneuvering...go figure! Having to launch to get up the hill in reverse...epic win.

*doesn't say anything about getting stuck at Muriwai though... :-X*

Ay, how does this relate to the topic? Im lost...

TURTLE - Skylines used to be a nice and reasonably quick car that was good value for money. I paid 10k for my 32 GTSt coupe 6 years ago - now they are still worth the same, but you get a piece of cr*p for your money. And every 2nd one is sacked on cutties, with some stupid "drift" look paint job - either matt black/primer or two tone cr*p. Its a real shame and really puts me off ever owning one again.

Ohh and dont get me started on the comments I used to get from little G-unit wannabe's at every set of lights - just cos I had a turbo rwd.

So comparitively speaking, Subie ownership aint as bad as it could be :) But I do agree, there is an awful lot of chrome around on Subbies these days. Such a waste.

Exactly, they seem to attract a high level of shitbag now. Same with "ceffees" or any other decent power RWD car. They are still a good car (though i hate nissan with a passion) there is no denying that.

The drift craze has a lot to answer for haha.

That was you i saw in mirimar the other day eh??

Love the sound of the subaru my 1st car was a g1 1800cc legacy which a fell asleep at the wheel driving off a ditch flipping it end over end and rolling 4 times wrapping the car in number 8 wire. i walked away with a sore head and cut nose there built tough i say.

2nd subaru was a g3 GT wagon single turbo was awesome car used to have the sticker on the back window "go hard or go home" that used to get me a lot of the wrong attention but that joined the BEB club.

I was looking at upgrading to a gc8 sedan or g1 or g2 legacy rs when the old man was selling his NZ new wrx i deal was soon worked out and i know the km's and history.

the just look so aggressive standard just need too paint the stone chipped bonnet from all the gravel driving.

Very very true. Im still a Nissan fan, but these days its not worth owning one round here - most of my mates who have owned Skylines have lost them via theft - rather than selling them.

And yeah, that was my daily driver you saw me in.

Gotta admit im a big Skyline fan, I have been considering an R33 GTst coupe for a while now but the stigma that goes with them is worse than a Subi as you say. And if I go away from Subis I want something with a ltitle less BS attatched.

And as for the G-units, its not just the RWD, if you have a turbo your gonna get the stupidity.

"Bro how many pounds you booting?"

"Is it quick? Can I have a drive?"

"My cousins got one bro, his is the fastest around, hes got a wastie."

and last but not least

"Do a skid au"

I sometimes take the Rex on deliveries and I love winding people up about it, my personal favourite is telling people its NA. Fantastic.

I like the sound and awd.

Grippiest wagon around the corners. The foz is a bit of a sleeper, love wasting ss holdens of the line!

Go anywhere and carry heaps, cheap and easy parts everywhere.

The great sense of camaraderie between forum members...

Not into the piss weak thin panels that'll dent if you look at them too hard,

The way old people stare at you in the street or carparks for the rumble.

The way my passenger window hisses at 'highway speed' cos it's getting sucked out.

Thats it, with RX coupe on the side. Green. Very quick car.

Gave it to my brother who was hell-bent on 4WDriving, it went everywhere.

Quick compared to what ?

My old Corolla GT was quicker and better handling.

:D

Didn't those have a primitive part-time 4wd system ?

That doesn't qualify as a real 4wd.

;D

Quick for what it was, if i wanted to compare something then i would have typed it.

Have you ever driven one?

I've never driven a mid eighties Corolla so i can't say, comparatively speaking.

Certainly it doesn't qualify as a Offroader but more so than your Corrola.

Hiya,

A friend had RX turbo saloon back in the '80s.

Crude 'n rude.

;D

Grunty engine at the time but much too much for the feeble chassis.

Yes, the 4wd system was better suited to an offroader.

It was from an off-roader ?

Who could have guessed Subaru would follow this up with first the Legacy and then the Impreza ?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
