I put mine into neutral 50/50 when at the lights depending how lazy I\'m feeling.

Mine normally was worse when it was in drive and stopped as it was under a bit of load and would drop the idle revs down a bit further than normal ones.

But with the new motor everything has been fab.

yes put it in neutral at the lights just like a manual. I put my foot on the break whilst changing into gear from a stop start in my auto makes change smoother

WTF??

What don\'t you understand about what I said?

Mike\'s not too good with written or spoken language... so I will explain. I believe he was expressing some mystification at your statement about changing from N to D while completely stationary being smoother with your foot on the brake.

Why put it into N??

Thats why you have a stall converter.

If you wanna play with gears get a manual. If not , leave it to do it\'s job...

I chuck it in N - older cars especially, smoother sitting there with no load rather than a bit vibratey on the stall

It\'s not playing with gears - I just find it more comfy. For the sake of tapping a lever forward it does no harm?

As said earlier too - a lot of driving instructors recommend it (well, all mine have over the years), same as not sitting at the lights with the car in gear with foot on clutch - just a minor safety thing I guess "just in case" foot slipped off or something.

Rowing through 1/2/D everywhere on the other hand is a bit of a goon habit

It\'s a valid question. I remember way back when, my driving instructor said best to put in neutral at the lights, as a safety measure more than anything in case foot slipped off brake plus in theory it uses less gas (like, a tiny, tiny bit less)

No different to sitting in gear with your foot on clutch I suppose. It stuck with me, I always put it in neutral at the lights.

ALWAYS use hand brake when stopped at lights etc should be the advice. Manual or Auto.

If you are hit from behind and your foot is on the brake.....It will come off and you will move forward.. :-[..If the hit is hard enough you will be un concious too. :( :(

Think about IT! ::)

Any driving instructor that says otherwise is not worthy of his ticket to teach. :o :o

Having handbrake on will also allow you to launch quicker.. ;)..Esp Manual

I have always put my auto\'s in neutral at the lights, simply due to the fact that it is much easier and relaxed and don\'t have to press so hard and for the fuel saving factor (mind you I was doing 1200Km per week at the time)

Its amazing how much more relaxed it is when your car is not straining against the brakes...

I think everyone needs to listen to this dude, a south african radio host and prank caller. This thread made me instantly think of this particular prank, if you don\'t laugh at this I don\'t know if you\'d laugh at anything, lol.

Hilarious.

I was waiting for P for passing.

Woman at car place was a good sport.

Yeah most cars go and launch faster with the hand brake on......................OMG!!! I\'ll have to pull on the hand brake next time a wanna pass another car..........

Ok ....guess i fell into it.. :-[..Doing a handbrake START will allow quicker launch. ;D

Because your foot is on the gas already :)

You guys got it all wrong.

Learn to left foot brake in an auto (except those $%^@! BMW DCT\'s with their stupid pedal layout).

Left foot on brakes, right on the gas, both hands on wheel, faster than having to release the handbrake.

;D

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
