Knocking strut - wof issue?

Is a knocking strut a wof issue? It knocks but springs tight etc. Ill check with wof man tomorrow but just didnt get time to catch him today and Id like to pull the strut tonight if I have to.

If this was the case, v8 onwards would never get a warrant as they are bad for knocking. Both our previous V8 and our current v10 knocks. (we just regrease).

This is a D2. I know buggered shocks arent the safest just wasnt sure if it was a legal thing. I mean really bad knock when your backing out of driveways/low speed etc.

Depends of they notice it, I have had too replace both rear on my old v8 for a wof

Oh they will notice it no doubt there. Ive passed a wof with my stock struts I need to pass a cert on these adjusties so need it to wof standard as I believe it to be.

depends on type of knock i guess, I put my fronts in around wrong way (did not realise orientation was critical) and the strut way physically contacting the body/knocking

was on my fail sheet once, rear ones normal knock has existed for ages but has never been as issue, the kind of knock that can be rectified by greasing strut

This knock sounds like Ive got 10mm play in the top hat going down a gravel road. Ill fix/replace it in due course but Id rather get a cert first so Im all legit.

i\'d say get it fixed first... sounds like that will fail a cert no doubt, as they are supposed to road test it....

Coz you can wof with adjusties...

Talked to the wof men yesterday he said if it passes a warrant its fine. Few warrant guys said if it knocks all good but if its obviously stuffed or leaking then fail.

Yeah but most cert guys want a failled wof before you go in to get certed (on the wof failures) anyway

Not really - when I got adjusties I took it straight off to get certed, was months from a WoF.

Cert guys check tons of shit the WoF guys aren\'t interested in and vice versa.

If you\'re taking a car for a cert for an engine swap they\'re not going to give a single fuck if you have a popped headlight bulb.

Well they are meant to check its up to wof standard so a failed wof does that and saves them the time. Costs you an extra $40 to save the cert lad some time though...

I say go for cert first of its not leaking and only knocking.. if it fails on a knocking shock then fix it or buy a set of bc golds ???

Which ones knocking? I have a horrible knock in the front, but that\'s the half shaft hitting the chassis..

I would go over the top hat nuts with a rattle gun and just make sure they\'re all tight. Have heard of them coming loose on adjusties before, did you buy them new?

I had a knock for a few months.. Pulled the strut out and realised there was no nut on the bottom of the shock that holds it all together!

Sheet myself when I came across it!
