Brembo swap

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Hopefully someone can shed me some light regarding this issue. So i have a sti v11(a-line) and just got a good deal on these brembos(came off the same version) Long story short it wont fit not because its not going into the bolts but because of the thickness of the calipers’s bracket comparing to my stock one.

So it does just pretty much cant go bolt in as its too thick.

thank you for any help or info.

Err, got a pic?

Is it literally just that the bolts are too short? :/

See the size comparison of it?

it does have the perfect bolt to

it. It just wont go in as the size is bit different.

I still don't follow... so the bolts are larger than the holes in the backing plate?

Do the Brembo-equipped cars get a different backing plate?

Seems like the bolt spacing is way wider on those brembos

can you post up the spacing

Hi boon,

thank you for the responses, please forgive me as im a newb and not sure with parts name etc.

So without the rotors the brembos perfectly bolt in. But when the rotors are IN that piece which is encircled wont go in as its to thick comparing to the stock one. Im not sure with the difference between the backing plates but as per videos that i have seen on youtube.. it was just pretty much straightforward taking out and putting in new caliper To a “WRX” v11, which i would say has the same set up as mine.

Did you not get the matching discs?

I’m assuming you are swapping fronts only as brembo brakes have a handbrake drum setup at the rear.

You may have some rear discs.

look inside them for scuff marks from the handbrake drum pads.

Thanks grip. I think it might have been a rear disc, what should be the size of the front disc? So would you say i need to get another set of front disc?

Mine are 330mm

front disc face to wheel mounting face

front 28-30mm

Rear 45mm

front disc is also fatter at about 35mm

there are a few sets around but shipping will be a killer.

Does the A-Line use 5x100 or 5x114 wheel bolt spacing? I've got a set of old 5x100 ones in TGA that I could possibly get to Rotorua reasonably quickly as we're doing heaps of work over there right now.

Hi andy mac,

its 5x114 unfortunately.

Hi grip,

i was measuring my stock ones and they are similar on size and same (5x114) however my rear disc seems to be bit smaller than the front so the disc that i got with the brembos are more likely for fronts

The rears are always super obvious as they have a big diameter drum section that pokes out the front where as the fronts have a much smaller dome that isn't much larger than the studs

Anything less than 330mm diameter won't be for brembo’s though so no idea what rotors you've ended up with.

What about the offset from disc face to wheel mounting face.

as @Andy_Mac said the front disc are a lot flatter than the rears.

Look at the offsets in the post earlier

Hi guys! Appreciate all your comments.

so i went to have a look on trade me and  some sells smaller diameter than 330 and states “fits” brembos. So wasnt sure about that but yeah was thinking will be bigger rotors will solve this issue?

this is a photo of what i meant of the brembos Being thick.
