another bov question

Recommended Posts

Hey, Car is 95 BG5 Legacy, what size bung do you need to block off the bov return pipe? 34mm? And I take it the bov fitting will be the same size.

Also I fitted a boost gauge on the weekend, notice the car is boosting 10.5psi on first turbo and goes up-to 15.5 psi when 2nd turbo kicks in - is this the standard boost level?

Thanks for your help! :)

19mm for a BG.

I recommend not getting a full atmosphere BOV though.

Thanks!

Yep I know the ecu calculates for the air to plumb back in after the AFM, just my bov has done over 230,000kms and its starting to stick, keen to go for something after market ;p

Hey whats your reasoning for this? I'm looking into going down the aftermarket bov road and would love to know any pro's/cons?

The ecu calculates for the air to plumb back in after the AFM - sending the air to atmosphere cause's the car to briefly run rich as ecu doesn't know you sent the air somewhere else and not back into the system.

Also stock bov's are design to be soft and leak a little air. This helps to stop the turbo surging and also helps the turbo to stay spinning as air is not going back and forcing the turbo to surge (spin the opposite way).

I have an R33 GTR bov I plan to install, these are the best bov you can get, they hold up 25+psi, flow large amounts of air and wont cause the turbo to surge _b

(Although I do love the crisp sound of a good bov ;) )

Yeah, basically full atmosphere ones tend to make the cars stall at intersetions and stuff, or nearly stall.

My recomendation, GFB hybrid. I ran one for about a week, it still made the atmosphere noise, but i had NO problems whatsoever with it. 50/50's are great, discrete and problem free.

my BOV is fully vented to atmos' ( twin trumpets ) and my car runs as per normal at intersections / dont stall etc, idles at round 11000 rpm seems to be sweet weather its set to 'full blast mode' or on 'stealth'

so i dunno if thats fair to say??

its a GFB stealth_FX and running a standard V2 RA ecu ???

just buy a zerosports intake pipe, the standard bov will make plenty of noise. :)

What makes you say that? I talked to the zerosports distributor and he said adding the intake pipe alone will do nothing but dress up the engine bay, have you had a different outcome?

i never has any issues with stalling when running a turbo smart BOV in my GTB.

Ran it for a good 6 months till i got sick of it lol...

got soem nice pops and bangs from the tail pipe too... although that also got old fast.

gtb as in bg or bh?

ive heard of heaps of bg era having full VTA

But for bh/be legacys i dont think its good

and i was recommended by GFB to only run 50/50

With a pod filter you can hear the standard factory bov venting.

The zsports intake has been proven to increase intake, not just dress it up :)

I used to have my gfb hybrid on full vent and it ran fine more lag between shifts though even when I had it half plumbback it was still loud as haha

Yea yours was a V3/4 AFM, Im wondering about omegahs because the b4's ahve same AFM as V5/6 which are the ones known to be problematic

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
