Good guess, recently, matt got a V3 STi box (nice and strong) for $600, and my mate got another v3//gtb box... complete with manual conversion kit... for $600 all up.

sounds like you have never rebuilt one before, subaru gearboxes arent that hard at all, ive had mine apart 3 times, once you do it the first time is a piece off piss. and i'd never rebuilt a gearbox til i owned a subaru.

id rather rebuild, cause like anything 2nd hand you dont know what your getting.

To the contrary, i've lent a hand on a few now, and have decided to never bother again, and just upgrade to a box that won't brake so easy.. That said, the lead ginger doing most the work on the last one was mixing and matching parts from and N/A box and a turbo box.

dont jam your fingers between gears/diff and housing it Fing hurts!!! mine came with 6mnth warrenty for $550 ill et another thank you not rebuilding again aye...

I bought my gearbox off the dodgiest guy ever. And whaddaya know - its not that good.

If i had a twin turbo - id consider rebuilding as changing a gearbox is a massive pain in the ass. As its only 2 hours at the most on my car - i dont mind going through a couple.

Not today but was on the weekend (had no internet since friday) took the Forester out into the Forestry for a bit of off road gravel and mud action. Was awesome with a minimum of tree carnage... though I did end up finding this place for the defoz to feel at home...

Reassembled my GTB calipers after having them acid dipped to remove the corrosion from the seized piston.

Actually this was the last thing i did to my car on saturday, was to drive it to Oil Changes in the pouring rain park it inside and take a couple of pics and say goodbye :'(
