It's still rude that they can ping you for speeding when overtaking someone. I know most cops are decent and will let you get away with it but there are asses that will ping you even if you are doing 5-10km/h over the posted speed limit when overtaking someone. 60km/h over the speed limit is excessive though dude.

There is no justification for "overtaking" in a 50kph zone....peoples lives are worth more than your frustrations at being held up. Put it into perspective. I crawl into town somedays from Tawa to Wellington at way less than 50kph for 20 mins plus. Thats life...and it might be someone elses...drive accordingly.

Thanks kids , I accept my lashes Im not making excuses just sucks doing a stupid thing like I did thats all.

I usually never speed so the one time I do it was excessive and Im paying for it.

I was surprised car went from 40kph to 113 so fast as I braked as soon as I was past him.

my car is just an old 90 legacy but it rockets up to 80-100 like crazy so i can understand how such a high speed can occur =/ just depends on when you choose to overtake i guess..

not codoning his actions but in some back water rural areas there are 50k zones in stuped places and I have come accross plenty of people that speed up where you can pass but as soon as you cant they slow right down, e.g 110 for passing lanes or straights and 70k for the rest.

That sucks mate but you probably got what you deserved. Thats is the thing I hated the most about twin turbos; you are breaking the open road speed limit at the end of second gear. If it was just changing to 100 kph though you may want to look into the legality of the placement of the sign. I have heard of people getting off speeding tickets due to the positioning of the sing not being in accordance with relevant standards or the council not following correct procedures when the sign was originally placed (i.e. the council may have done a "she'll be right" rather than consulting correctly etc.) . Could be worth getting a solicitor to have a look into it for you. The cop caught you red handed so the only recourse you may have is a technicality.

Just to rub it in I will be in Germany next week and will have a 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera to play with........312 kph top speed and no speed limit on the autobahn ;D.
