wrx theft attempt

Recommended Posts

Just a reminder that pretty much no where is safe to park up a suby,

Had my wrx parked outside flex gym in palmy north 5.30pm sunday night right in front of a security camera and as close to the door as you could get. I had a group of 3 sneak up and flex back my window and get in.

They busted up my whole ignition trying to get it started but thankfully they couldnt work out why it wouldnt start.. so they tried to steal the sterio (also failed at that) so took some crap old CDs from the glove box. Had a mongoose m60b fail me at the worst time so getting new one put in.

ive watched the camera footage but cant identify them at all! :-\

Seems they\'re getting pretty cocky (and good since he got into it so fast) so go careful and keep an eye on ya cars.

FYI Someone paying to much attention to my car approx 5.45PM yesterday car was parked at Pioneer shops.

Person was scared off by one of my staff after trying to claim it was there car saying they locked themselves out and were looking for keys through window.

Description - Dark skinned, 6\'1 wearing a blue hoody with a generic surf logo on the front and black track pants.

I think there might be some sort of general op going on in Palmy atm... My friend just had her Datsun stolen from her driveway the other night.

I\'ll make a thread here so that way if we can trace one car back to them and hopefully sting the lot.

There was some fellas on Hustle Live Manawatu a few weeks bag bragging about being a chop ring.

It came about because someone I know had there car backed into and got the rego. Had a mate check said rego the other day and said car was found burnt out a few days later.

Certainly a chop ring at work in the area.

I think I\'d be inclined to unplug crank and cam sensor when leaving my car for long periods of time.

Or just get an AVS 5 star alarm with the fuel cut and immobilisers etc.

Bit daft unplugging those as it will throw/log a code. I know from times when Ive unplugged the iacv playing with stuff the car has a fucked up idle till it relearns itself. Better things to unplug imo.

On the note of security. Is there a thread out there with all the safest spots to park around each city? That would be handy to know what places have cameras.

For the Wellington visitors, my v3 STI was taken by a tow truck from underneath wellington stadium. No cameras there, no glass, fully alarmed. Not saying its not possible a guy got in without smashing a window, seemed like tow truck was the way as there are no arm barriers there and all the workers park there so you dont have much foot traffic at all going through, anyways, car was gone burger when i got out

Stadium carpark is notorious for cars going missing. Wouldn\'t have been a towtruck, getting into a Subaru without breaking glass is a 10 second job for a skilled crim and I bet your alarm took about 30 seconds to bypass. I could ask you half a dozen questions about your car then tell you how they took it - I\'ve worked with a very good alarm installer and in order to protect cars better you have to know what tricks the scum use.

Sometimes the simplest things work the best

Kill switch for the fuel pump relay in a ridiculous spot (I\'m talking like, externally / hidden in engine bay / spare wheel well / in the boot somewhere etc) car won\'t go no matter what you bypass

Won\'t stop a break in but will stop it leaving under its own power at least

yea. it seems the best way is to have your car fully insured. Theres an alarm installer called obsessive security i think that says he will pay for your excess if you use one of his alarms and your car gets jacked

anyone got one of those gear lock things installed? ive seen them on trademe wondered how easy it is to rip out. Assume it will stop the joy riders like a wheel lock would, but the pros would get through it in a minute with a simple angle grinder or what not

i know this link has been posted elsewhere. and bare in mind the paragraph about it taking longer for insurers to obtain the information they need should you car be nicked thus delaying payment, however you can make it tougher to obtain your address from a car registration. And you never know what contacts these guys have in order to find out vehicles for order type. No we arent in a gone in 60 seconds episode but it seems subarus are very sought after for the chop

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
