BPE ez30 gets castrol 10w/40 changed every 10thou

I did not consider the few who have two Subbies. Can you change the poll to allow two votes?

Engines done 1200km running the 12mm pump with larger clearance on bearings engine builder uses it in all his race motors after changing from running in oil went to the 20w50 found engine to be a lot smother.

this is what changed my mind from motul to royal purple

I haven\'t watched the full eight minutes but there\'s no hot testing involved with that demonstration is there?

High Heat, High Shear properties are a major consideration with oils. As they all behave differently as they get up to working temp (or overheated).

I dont buy into that vid at all. Without naming names you have no idea at all what spec/product hes really comparing to the sponsored product. Oils are built to a spec. If it meets that spec it meets that spec period. Some may be better but technically it should be pretty bloody similar to stay within spec. Some oils claim to be backwards compatible like caltex have their CI which was upgraded to CJ at the same $ and they claim its fine. A lot of cases it is most oil companies are working towards this. Really theres so much more to oil than oh this is so much better than that. I want to see actual evidence for just one engine failure that was a direct result of shit oil that was correctly specced. Most engine oil is fine in petrol/diesel just the diesel related have a higher detergent level along with other modifiers. Funny thing is the majority of oil comes through Singapore for our markets anyway through the same plant just to the individual oil companies spec.

I use Gulf Western 10w40 semi synthetic, Cheap at $35 for 5L and is pretty good, Gulf western oil outsells most other brands on OZ

Added! How does Penrite and Nulon sell? They\'re Australian made.

Higher km cars need thicker oil etc.

Does this mean a higher first number, or a higher second number?

Oil n00b

Oil n00b

Higher of either is \'thicker\'; first number is cold, second is hot (simplistically)

The second is more relevant though as that\'s what it\'ll spend most of its time at.

Worth noting that cold starts is where a lot of wear occurs so thats also just as relevant.

My libero had a forged engine and I ran it on forementioned agip semi 10W40. Being 18 at the time I quite literally thrashed the pants off it. Dropped from redline numerous times each weekend night. Once the roof went on it I thrashed it cold with ice on the windscreen but just couldnt kill it in 40thou of ownership.

And damn good it is too :D :D Just not listed here :(

Motul for me ;) ;) :)

Can you be a bit more specific? Their site has quite a lot of 10w40 grade oils: http://www.motul.com/nz/en/products?f%5Brange%5D=25&f%5Bviscosity%5D=28&page=1

Yes. oops :-[ Motul 300V Chrono 10W/40 For my upper Hp stuff.

As for the Royal Purple vid? :o Against Motul?....I dont reckon there would be a lot of difference. ;) Spec for spec of course :)

Penrite 5W-40 for me (changed from Castrol even though I work for a Castrol agent) was going to run Motul 300V but even at trade price I couldn\'t really justify it even though I\'m sure it\'s a good oil. Serviced every 5,000km V8 WRX STI.

I thought i better post this again for anyone who missed it.

Does make for good reading. Is the same test as in the Royal Purple video but with a more varied range of oils. Its a bit out dated still gives good information on brands.

Well thats very interesting :D Well worth a read. May reconsider my choice of oil. ;) Its all about expectations versus application. Cost? No such thing as cheap. or free.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
