Sounds like its blowing it threw the blowby Stira rather than sucking it as you say its only on boost which generally means wornout compression rings. Might be time to dust off the compression tester and prepare yourself for the moment of truth.

Whats the blowby? Its a brand new block and was inspected when I had new heads put on about 500kms ago. Ive had this issue just after it went back together.

The issue only happens on startup after giving it some boost in the last run, and its not continual.

Can anyone confim the way the hoses should be located on the can?

edit: can you explain better or draw a simple MS paint diagram for how you have it set up. I cant follow the pipes your describing or cant see what im looking for

BUT: having the very bottom hose going to the intake isnt right (im assuming intake is pre compressor as in factory set up). As ANYTHING oil that gets into your car goes straight back into the intake and defeats the purpose of the catch can. Im of the opinion that a catch can should be totally divorced from the intake.

Any oil in your tmic out of interest?

Yes to oil in the tmic. Yes intake is pre compressor. Ill draw it up, ive got a v7 sti block as well not a v5 one.

Have you blocked the second "breather" off the crankcase (assuming your heads don't have two breather ports) as one of the ones off the crankcase is unbaffled and should just be blocked off unless you have later model heads.

From how you've described the routing, it sounds like you're onto something as it would just drain the catch can completely into your intake any time you had it running under full load i.e. boosting.

Are you still using the AFM? If not, could try running it for a while with the breathers disconnected from the intake so that its a completely divorced setup as has been mentioned.

Ive got v5 sti tye r heads and v7 sti block.

So there is no reason it has to go back to the intake? I think a switch around and ill be oil less.

The line on the top on the elbow is coming from the right head breather, basically it would act like a vacume pump under any sort of boost. I think.

Still using the AFM.

Neither pipes are blocked off, all going to the catch can.

If you have an AFM, it should go back to the intake cause its metered air. If you have a Link (or similar) then the catch can doesn't need to go back to the intake (unless you really, really care about the environment)

Not sure how much of an issue it would be running it without it plumbed back, not sure how much it'll effect the AFM's readings.

Do you have two ports on the block running to the catch can?

You only want one thats in the same spot as the older blocks. The extra port from the crankcase on the newer blocks just throws oil out of the engine. If you run the motor without having anything on there the oil will just about hit the roof (don't ask how we found that out haha).

Do you know which one it is, cause both mine go back to the can. What you have just described would explain alot.

The one thats closer to the centeline of the engine. The one thats further back (closer to the turbo) is the baffled one that is the same spot as the older blocks.

swap top hose "to right hand head" with the "to intake" and it should cure your oil issues. note your can will actually fill up now.. and might still mean its rings are pocked and shunting out more oil than is supposed to. Or that you have the two breathers going to the catch can like Koom said haha.

200ml's petrol in the TMIC, block of the inlet / outlet and shake vigourly is a nice way to clean that out

Im pretty sure I have the issue Koom has described. TMIC has been repaired and flushed. Ohh the excitement of getting this thing going properly ;D

Even though ive had a few issues with the car, its been good fun sorting them out :D

Picked it up from the side of the road in Riccarton, and had teas because I didn't have enough vac hose for Boost Gauge, so sits on dashboard.

New turbo in. Lines correct on my catch can (i think).

Banjo bolts are a prick. Just checking but theres nothing special in setting them up eh?

Done.

Went for a drive and ive only got 8-10pounds of boost, stll pretty quick even with that. Where would I find the boost pill? Dont think ive got one.

Still no working blow off valve as well.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
