they're not restrictive. do some research

errmmm what? that's why its called a restrictor box...

i have done research and its like a baffle and removing it and replacing it with a pipe gives better airflow..

unless you wish to prove otherwise?

im sure plenty of people on here have done this and chosen to keep the new pipe rather than the old box..

plus it looks alot better too..

show of hands.. who has found that replacing the restrictor box on the intake gives better response and airflow?

i'm talking about replacing the black box in the centre of this image:

getimage.asp?f=PK069_before&w=500

with something like this:

before you go off having another rage, the pipes and pictures we were talking about above are for v3+.

how is someone supposed to guess you're referring to something different.

if you had said "do not want restrictor box on MY BF" then its clear yes?

fwiw - people often quote the stock airboxes as being restrictive which the are not - and given the context of the previous discussion my comments apply that that.

boom - what johnny said.

Why would I know (or care) what sort of car you have? The discussion was based around a WRX, you didn't seer it elsewhere so the assumption would be we are comparing apples with apples not apples with Giraffes...

At the moment? No... Not really.

Anyways on topic...

My weekend involved tidying up a few vacuum lines, marking up my boot for the v6 STI spoiler to go one, tidying up my spare set opf 16"rims and painting my FMIC before looking at some piping ideas...

Busy day for me...

Put it an hks circle earth system mainly just because it looks better than original looking wires, removed horn, going back in tomorrow. Took starter off, replaced brushes, cleaned up. Replaced clutch spring cause other one disappered. Got the window washers working again - finally. Cleaned back tail-lights, somehow pieces of metal got into them and started rusting inside (??) Removed intercooler piping to attempt straightening, but thats still in progress, took bov off and cleaned. Took off k&n filter, replaced with hks item. Pulled dash apart for work on it tomorrow.

I finally got around to welding up the jigsaw puzzle that is my baffled, twin-scroll sump. Just need to weld some tags in for fasteners and paint the outside and it should be ready to bolt onto an engine ;D

Also, Tony started working on my heads to get them ready for me to bolt onto my shortblock. Lots of work in sorting out the core shift in the castings.

nice man.looks sweet

you notice any diffrence with the silicone intake?

Got the IAC plumbing rerouted today and finally took it for a spin and ...... OMFG what a difference , the old pipe must have been soooo restrictive with the rangi side connection drilled into it.

Car is savage on boost now , boost is up to 1.1 bar from 1.0 and feels as if its on sooner , 0 - 100 dissapears atleast a second quicker , cant wait to get back on the track now.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
