the apexi rsm are really good, using one myself. it does full monitoring or revs, idle, speed, etc... and 1/4 mile timing too

Yeah im in the same boat.

180 according to speedo is about 168ish according to Pivot.

Yeah I'd go with the percentage based accuracy rather than a set km figure. If it was a set figure, then that means that if it's out 10km at 100, it will also be out 10km at 180, but people have found it's more like 15-20km, which leans towards the percentage theory.

If its a percentage at say 10%; at 100kms it would 10kms out, at 180kms it would be 18kms out?

so leaning more toward percentage

in the case of my car its more like 5% out

well, based on observation, it certainly seems to be a percentage based error... and if the ancient greeks could build a machine to predict lunar and solar eclipses with a high degree of accurancy, out of gears and cogs, I'm sure a modern car manufacturer can make a speedo read 10% wrong.

What's the speed cut based on? My V7 definitely has the '180kmh' speed cut but the needle goes well off the end before it does. So I wonder there's a second, accurate 'speedo' that the car uses internally, while reading ~10% or whatever over on the dash?

My legacy's speedo is about 10km out at 100 and 20km at 180, but reads correctly below 80 i think it is.

I am quite happy with My speed-o reading fast - means I can sit on 110 all day and not be worried

Electronic Speedo's (more so in later model cars) can control the error across the range alot better than an earlier electronic or cable driven speedo.

So, without looking into the logic of the chipset, it could be 10% of given speed, 10% of the span, or even just a set kph at a given speed....
