Dumb Question Thread!

So I\'ve noticed lately that I dont need to use the accelerator to make my car move in (what i\'ve tried) 1st, 2nd, 3rd and reverse. It will also go from completely stopped to moving without using the accelerator. Wondering if this is normal; or just sign of a healthy clutch; as I\'ve never driven another vehicle that can do this.

Or is my car in all likelihood absolutely retarded?

That would be the clutch not disengaging completely wouldn\'t it? Is it hard to get into gear when stopped?

Try giving the clutch a few pumps, then see if it still wants to move with the clutch in.

Any fluids leaks at the slave cylinder?

nah nah; it\'s all fine. like I put it into gear then if I slowly release the clutch it will move without needing to apply force to the accelerator; like it\'s moving off the idle alone(doesn\'t take off in 2nd or third though), it\'ll still stall if I dump it or brake without clutching etc. nothing leaking: just thought it was kinda interesting, like it\'s handy as our driveway is really shit; so moving slowly at like 5km in 2nd without accelerator is good. It only works on flat surfaces.

It\'s a good sign that all your running gear/drive train/brake system is in good nick. ;D

I\'m glad, before I got it apparently the centre diff had just been replaced as a wrong ratio one had been fitted or something(I thought was odd; as if wrong ratio doesn\'t it mean it wont go anywhere? or possibly gear ratio\'s may have been changed) and a new clutch.

Anyway; the last owners had a lot of issues with it; as to why I got it :P

I too have had many issues.

Hopefully not for too much longer :P longblock sent this week; should be here before the weekend :D

My roster coming up is a bit bung(no two days off in a row); so I\'m not sure how quickly I\'ll be able to have the engine in though. I should try remembering to take pics of removal;and swapping everything from current engine to longblock :P

Have to be a one day dance.

Have you got a spare set of hands for the big day?

Yeah; My dad\'s there(the joys of living at home, I pay my way though), might get another mate around if any have spare time lol; more than two people can get a bit crowded though.

Both looking forward to it; and not looking forward to the stupid questions from the rest of the family "How far do you have to go?" "So, why are you doing this again?"

Hooray for endless chain.

There\'s 76mm - 80mm and 80mm - 86mm.

I missed out on that auction on trademe. Didn\'t realised it ended in the morning.

I shouldn\'t need the joiners if this is the right hose it should fit in fine.

Your air box outlet should be 90mm o/d, then the silicone intake at the manifold is 75mm o/d.

So you need a 90mm>75mm I/D pipe. An 80mm pipe would have to slide inside your air box outlet, then you can\'t clamp it.

How crazy would you have to be to buy a cheap V6 STi with 228xxxkms without a pre purchase inspection? Looks somewhat tidy at least..

I guess the level if crazy would be proportional to the price paid

They want $4500 so may offer them $3500 and go from there..

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
