Dumb Question Thread!

Well even though WD40 can be used as a lubricant it isn\'t actually a dedicated lubricant, it\'s water displacing and as such doesn\'t last as long as crc when used to lubricate. After a month or two if used on weather exposed things you\'ll get erosion eventually too.

I\'ve always found it quite good to use wd40 first on rusty bits and then follow up with crc.

Although if you\'re happy with its performance in the situations you\'re using it then i\'m not questioning that, go for gold.

Ive been using it on my s***ty mountain bike chain for years and years and the chain still looks brand new

The one I used it on rusted again after a month or so, but after using wd40 again to clean it up then using crc it was fine ever since. Although I haven\'t actually had a bike for years now o-o

The main use I had for it was if I had something anodized that got scratched you use wd40 and a scotch pad and it buffs it out xD

you\'re killing me bro

thats back to front

crc disappears/evaporates quicker than WD40

WD40 lurks longer / leaves a lubricating residue

whats your sauce for this misinformation?

But if you\'re experience points to the opposite then i\'ll happily concede to that.

well blow me down : your link confirms and busts my theories, reckon I might be the one to concede (funny how no one else cares/has spoken up yet

BUT some people are awake I see [Hi Mike]

haha, that\'s good I suppose? :D

Although internet fights are kind of like running in the special olympics. It doesn\'t matter what place you come, you\'re always special at the end.

I shall use CRC and WD40

Next question

Can you buy a In car GPS that takes up a stereo slot/single Din in the center console? If so what is it technically called

My car has a Japanese one but I would rather it actually do something hence a NZ one.

The unit is a Pioneer Carrozzeria AVIC-DR2500

Yes I have seen this thread: http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,10692.0.html

There aren\'t many single-DIN navigation systems to choose from (or car navigation systems available full stop) in NZ, but there is the Alpine IVA-D511EBT, which has a slide-out 7" touchscreen. Retails for $2499. However, it doesn\'t come with built-in navigation: you also need the NVE-M300P add-on module, which is another $1200 or so.

Something you might like to consider is that, like portable in-car navigation systems, most models available in Australia also include NZ maps. If you\'re serious, buying from there and getting it shipped over may save you some money.

Cheaper yet, get a standard head and spend $3-500 on a Garmin or TomTom portable unit with free lifetime maps and save yourself $2-3000 now and $250 every time you update the maps! That\'s what I did, and just binned the Japanese double-DIN nav paperweight.

Oh, one other option that might suit you better could be to buy a standard head unit with an LCD screen and an AV input like the Alpine IVA-D100E for ~$500-600 (http://www.qualitycaraudio.co.nz/Alpine-iva-d100e-ivad100e-headunit-car-audio-stereo), then get the Garmin GVN-53 add-on navigation unit for about $700 (http://www.triginstruments.co.nz/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1339). With both you have a complete navigation system for around $1200 plus installation (and maps, or use the free NZ Open GPS Project maps).

It won\'t be a touchscreen nav system (the nav box uses an RF remote control) but it should work pretty well..

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
