Can someone explain why they command the price they do and if they\'re "worth" it? I was in Repco the other day and saw them behind the counter, asked the guy about them and the price and he said for my Legacy it\'d be $150. FOR A FILTER!!!!! Am I right in saying they\'re an oiled filter, is this ok and will it affect the MAF sensor?

Similar to buying apple its 90% icon/10% product youre paying for.

Idea is less restriction giving more power/better efficency/economy as a result etc. As far as oiled goes some people say it wrecks afm\'s some have had it in there for years no problem. Just remember any BE/BH throw afms like toys from a cot so think do you really want to do it? The prodrive ones similar style are $300odd genuine. Can run them unoiled also.

Total waste of money by today\'s reckoning.

Fantastic value actually... Have had one for over 300,000km Perfect! Never use dry! :( :( or over oiled! :(:o

Certainly good in the dust (rally) no need to buy one every rally simply clean and re oil.

Cheap over time although expensive to start.

Keep your eye out around wreckers/pick a part. only $15 from there..Clean m out an away ya go!

All my vehicles have K&N (6) :) :) :D

Better than any paper filter ;D Ive had them turn inside out/bust apart if they get wet too! :o :o

Back to back testing has shown the best filter you can use is a new factory paper one.

K&N are good but the oil has shown to kill AFM\'s really quick if any oil gets on the hot wire inside.

same sort of thing with pod filters.

We dont warranty any AFM\'s or engines we sell at work if using a pod filter/oiled panel fileter so that shows how easy they can cause issues.

someone please provide evedince of a properly oiled filter wrecking a maf . its a whole lot of hearsay from a retard . how many suby mafs just shit out anyway .

knn will last the life of the vehicle . and airfilters are supposed to be done every what ? 10-20k and at $10 a filter times 10 -20 services

everything you pay retail for at ripco is a rip off

KnN will mantain excelent flow even once dirty .

no foam filter will trap dirt unless you oil it

See, the idea of more air flow is nice but I\'m not loving the idea of screwing the AFM or letting more drt into the engine. What other brands can you all recommend?

Lol thats been proven an urban myth, never had an issue in 13 years personally also.

Anyone with eyes will be able to see a whole lot of dirt is going to go through a K&N filter.

I had a K&N on my v6 STi... went through 3 AFMs... none before or after... actually a couple were with an Apexi pod filter... but the same thing applies... oil.

I always thought the apexi ones were a dry filter

Anyway this argument will go on forever and a day

Plenty of dyno charts online showing the huge gains possible with aftermarket filters

Also plenty showing the 0 gain from it and that factory works just as well

My vote goes to stainless mesh ones because they are loudest

Same reason that I\'ve always used them and about to put one on my BMW as I\'d rather just clean a filter than throw it away and buy a new one.

(Also, only ever had an AFM die when I still had a factory filter in my GTB.

Correlation doesn\'t equal causation.)

Get a Zerosports one from 41 automotive

They only make parts for Subies, they have been around for years an years and they are super high quality. Their air filter is around $100 I think

Also they actually say they are a "dry type filter" on their site.

Buying one that is designed from the start to be a dry element is a much better idea than buying another brand and just not applying the oil as that could compromise the filtering since it may not have been designed to work without the oil.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
