They are from a performance perspective - flawed

You kinda miss the point. This is an sti version of a touring car. Its an improvement on the breed. Back in the days of the tt, this was a top of the line model. With hindsight its easy to look back, however these things are still exclusive (with 401 produced) and had way better performance than the standard B4.

In saying that though, that one isnt what I would call a prime example both in age and a bad colour......

Exclusivity aside,

The minor engine revision ultimately should have been executed in previous model's.

But then i don't "get" this particular model from the day they were conceived.

Was interesting - read an article about the S401 recently.

Finished off by saying something like "the car the Legacy always should have been".

Just ashame it was a farewell gift from Subaru/STI - if they they had executed these changes in the Rev C/Rev Ds! Oh well, nothing much an EBC and Z/S controller can't fix - quite a bit cheaper than an S401 as well. ;D

For sure. It supposedly fixed all of the TT's issues and should have been the car that subaru first made as the TT.

It demonstrated how flexible a twin touring motor could be.

Significantly better than any other Rev-D GTB/RSK? My E-tune doesn't seem to lack flexibility.

S401 got a revised ECU that bumped power up to 216kW, torque remained the same at 343Nm.

I waited about 6 months for one of these to pop up but they never did, so settled on a d rev RSK. Altho i would not pay 25k for that thing at indycars. Not sure why theres so much TT hate from the single turbo boys here.

TT are good, and Ive owned both. TTs are great for long distance and cruisng etc, if you wanna turn your cap backwards and give the civics a go at the lights, there no good though :

The paint looks to have some gold/green pearl/flake or whatever in it as opposed to the standard cherry black.

would definiately buy this one if I didn't bought my S202. Love the S401 when I used to drove my RSB.
