Gave the rear bumper a quick flick of paint today, was orginally a blue one i got from pick apart, Man the gc8 ra is really starting to grow on me!

Hijacka, I'm really pleased you picked up that car on Trademe. It was looking so bad.

Looks like it will be looking flash in no time.

not really "to" my car, more "for" my car.

new insurance. got my policy renewal through from state, my premium had doubled.

sooo, start ringing around. NAC don't want to know because it doesnt have an "aftermarket 5 star alarm", but the factory canbus immobiliser it does have, although more effective, isnt "5 star rated"

aa insurance quoted 1490, with a 400 excess, tower and ami and wont do it for the same reason as NAC, waiting to hear back from club auto

Thanks for your kind words Tim! yeah i feel like Diego Subaru Rescuer lol, Your right though it was in very bad nick, it had 2 sets of floor mats in it mold all in carpet banged panels and poked engine and interior parts needed replacing.. i did view it about 3 weeks before buying it..I really wasn't that interested at the time because it needed alot of work and its non sti..but i'm glad i have it now is fun to drive and just passed a wof yesterday too:)

I've been looking into alarms and i think i'll order a viper pager alarm in .. they don't sell them in here in nz but apparently they are NO1

main issue, although it's the best alarm, is that it's not nz star rated. if it doesnt have the ratings, the insurance company will tell you to f**k off.

which shows how retarded insurance companies are.

i mean, f**king uniden 5 star alarms meet insurance standards!!!!!!!

It was the beast, had two drives in it and it caught on fire. Safe to say though it is bloody mental especially when using semi slicks with very little tread on a soaking road.

Turns out the power steering hose couldn't take the pressure and blew, spraying PS fluid everywhere. The heat wrap got soaked and ignited, actually thought my mate was having a laugh when he said " car is on fire" in fact the 4 of us just laughed, until I looked and saw the Orange flames coming off the headers, quickly got my old fire extinguisher and put it out.

Anyhow it's fixed again, no major damage and just started her again and works. Weld on bung for the PS return line and all AN fittings should fix that leaking, and gone very high pressure braided hose for the ps pressure line. Going to run it on Saturday morning fire extinguisher in hand until all the **** burns off the header wrap.

2nd time the car has tried to kill itself.

Today for me..

Got Rich to replace some dodgey brake lines and power steering hoses.

The reservoir had to be emptied of course which was pretty hard to contain and leaked all over my shiney manifold. Going to need a good steam clean now. Was funny driving down the road watching all this white smoke coming from the engine bay, as most of it was being burned off.
