Dumb Question Thread!

well, changing the ride height with same dampening makes sense to require a cert if going stupidly low, but with the dampening you can drastically change the way a car handles... i dano i just see dampening as possibility to cause more issues than ride height....

Will 2 Pot rear brakes off of a V2 with R160 diff bolt up to a V5 WRX?

If they wont bolt on will Kartboy adapters work?

http://www.entra.com.au/kartboy-wrx-2-pot-rear-brake-adapters/

V2 DID NOT come with 2 pot rears factory, so the person you bought them from must've used adapters. You probably could ask them to get the adapter from them to use/sell them to you if not in use to them or maybe take them to an engineer shop and get them copied? probably gonna cost you half what the kart boy adapter!

but yes those adapters are wat im wanting 2 make them fit, also need larger discs

dont confuse your r160 hubs that require the adaptors. and the r160 hubs Johnny will have... He has the ones that will allow direct 2 pot fitment. and obviously come with the rotors all ready to go.

oh god never knew there were 2 different type of r160s, guess im in the rite thread to ask what is the difference?

Ha ha seems to be a bit of a nightmare for what is essentially a cosmetic mod. I am doing exactly the same thing as you putting it on a V5 but you have the STI and I am doing it on the WRX. Oh well in for a penny in for a pound.

some V8+ wrx came/comes with 4pot fronts and 2pot rears (i think it was an add-on optional when buying a new JDM wrx) thoes still had R160 diff/hubs, but their hubs has the correct mounting for the rear 2pots but still uses the 290mm rear rotors with 170mm E-brake shoes.

Yours v6? should have the same rotor (290mm with 170mm shoes) but your hubs would be different, so in order to put rear Subaru 2pot you either need a V8+ hub off a wrx that came with 2pot rears OR use adapters.

To Funky btw.

Yup and I have done the searches and read the write ups. But its still pretty confusing with most of those threads having someone piping up disputing whats been said. But I am pretty sure I have it nailed now.

Still an intimidating mod for someone who has never removed a hub before mate. Some of us aren't quite so willing to jump in with both feet and have a go or lucky enough to have someone near by to help if a mistake is made but are getting there :)

Not having a dig bro, just pointing out you have done it before hence it is now easy and from your write ups you have been lucky enough to have another set of eyes on a lot of your work. Wish I did to, if all else fails someone there to look at at it and brainstorm with can be massive help.

Appreciate the CS help though, thats massive to.

Would be much appreciated Jon.

While were talking this sort of thing I have noticed the club has a massive wealth of knowledge that isnt logged anywhere. We all know someone who has done pretty much every Subi mod going but so few are written down let alone with photos.

Maybe to encourage more writeups the club could offer free membership for a year to people who create a certain number of accurate how to writeups?

The bigger number of writeups would probably increase membership there by vindicating the extra club funds spent on free memberships...

Just a thought.

- Edit -

Smarter/braver (or both) than me Jon :D

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
