Dumb Question Thread!

What are some good mods to do to a 02 GTB E-tune to improve it as a daily driver?

It currently just has cat back exhaust on it.

Was thinking sway bars and end links, 4 pot front brakes with upgraded rotors, walbro fuel pump, aftermarket panel filter and a tune to fix VOD.

Not wanting to do anything extreme just wondered what you guys thought?

Fuel pump won't be good for anything unless the existing one is struggling which if stock it won't. Get an etune from raijin and just leave it performance wise. Handling mods would be well worth it though

My '00 had just sti pink springs and it felt a hell of a lot more controlled in the corners compared to the new one

Probably a dumb question i should know the answer to..

Looking at some speakers, got 125w at a weird 2.7 ohm impedance. Should they just be wired up as you normally would, no bridging or anything to get differing impedances? Got an existing infinity amp that does 100w at 4 ohm. Will the amp just give whatever the speakers need?

Never had to sus out speakers that were anything other than 4 ohms, subs yea but they seem to be more convential impedances ):

what does everyone use on the cover of the waterpumps that hold the thermostat in new gasket? or would some kind of sealant like 3 bond (ive got some CRC red gasket sealant)? also in regards to thermostats ive heard of people not running them at all? is this good or bad?

I've just got an adhesive gasket goo on mine. I wouldn't run without a thermostat.

Edit: I have no gasket on my water pump, with Cyclo black RTV silicone adhesive sealant.

My thermostat has the OEM rubber o-ring on it.

Should the overflow bottle have any coolant in it? When I checked mine on the weekend it was empty, but I have seen images where others have coolant in them. Whats the deal? (note - car is at mechanics as had a coolant leak, coolant over top of radiator and cambelt cover, but coolant overflow bottle empty)

Yes it should, there's a cold level line near the bottom. The coolant system will fill/empty from it as needed. Yours will just be empty now because of the radiator leak.

Okay; so anyone who's driven a BH legacy will know about their electronic power steering assistance; and thus how super light and fluffy this is; now: what I'm proposing is to somehow transplant the system into my GC8; from what I've read in about five minutes time: it is kina built into the steering rack; so swapping them out would be phase one; and I'd have to rob the control unit from whichever car I got the rack from. just wondering if anyone has attempted similar? or your thoughts on plausibility. still paying off this car: so It will be staying relatively un-tampered for a while. I'm just trying to think ahead. It was definitely the first biggest difference I noticed between the cars.

Why you would want lighter steering than a stock wrx I dont know but then I prefer a h/d clutch over the stock option so my opinion doesn't count for much.

I dunno; some people like different things haha; I just love the lightness of the BH steering. it's super fluffy down low; and stiffens up as you go faster

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
