Is it true that the Gen 2 GTB comes standard with an exhaust cutout aka header dump? Apparently it's automatic and gets actuated at the higher rpms.

A pic for people that don't know what it is:

Yeah I have the standard exhaust still on mine.

The controller is located in the boot, that opens the butterfly valve on the secondary.

You can have it open permanently by hooking the cable over the little notch.

It's not that impressive though, only gives you a little more flow. I would rather have proper muffler to get the suby rumble.

when i had the ECU out for my TT to ST conversion on my 2001 BH, i found the wire at the ECU that controls that exhaust actuator, snipped & extended it, ran it to a micro switch on the dash and simply earthed the other side of the switch. This allows me to activate it manually.

I have a siamese DP and the rest is the standard exhaust, with the exhaust actuator open i get a mild suby rumble and when the missus gets in she hates the rumbel so simply turns it off!

Works a treat!

Nope, it's simply a computer controlled dual entry muffler. I like the idea of the dash switch for it though :D

Have for ever heard of the varex mufflers? dual entry things that you can control yourself. They are illegal in NZ ("easily modified without specialised tools" or something silly), but i reckon if you hooked one up to the factory muffler control you could get around that little clause.

Passanger side compartment in boot. Where the jack is located.

Cant see anything like that in mine.

I had my exhaust replaced but there is no trace of this ever being in there.

Yeah I got this, can anyone confirm this is related to the green plug under dash RHS? As when I plus this in it goes nuts, and makes a weird sound. I think iv'e figured this out..]

I'll find the thread when I get home from work about this I asked ages ago (years)

Hi,

My 97 bg legacy man tt has a big exhaust on it, but makes hardly any rumble noise, i checked this switch where the jack goes passenger side boot, as per pic, and the cable connected to the little motor (the one that opens and closes the cut out) was missing. is the missing cable related to my lack of rumble? i clearly know nothing qbout soobs.

Interestingly enough I just fitted this muffler on my BF GT had no idea what it was off other than a Subaru the flanges are the same the hanger mounts are the same and aside from being about 1 inch too long a perfect replacement (I have no towbar now if I had tried to fit the GTB muffler with towbar still attached it would have been 5 inches to long)

It cost me $70+ at Magoo getting it fitted new gaskets included. Sound wise I wont be failing any WOF's but its a fantastic compromise between performance and sound.

Considering Mine's been cut(don't know when must've been a while ago) will it affect performance at all? what are the negatives of this? or is it like that Xforce muffler where it just opens and closes type deal?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
