Dumb Question Thread!

turns out that big earth going to the engine or the strut tower was the f*cken issue, removed them and started first pop.

i still have a crank angle warning but no check engine light comes on when driving.

that\'s right its driving again boosts all good and idles fine.

now my dumb question for the day when i was looking for a ecu for mine which i never did find, i found a link plug in play for my ver5 now whats involved in setting one of those up?

Your Crank Angle Warning, is just the "old, stored code" saved in the ecu. If CEL is not on then you have no fault.

In this Pic, you have a HUGE Power Feed to the Alternator and Starter. A Huge Earth to the Strut Tower and a HUGE Earth going into the F/L Guard?

Then the small OEM Earth, from Battery to Block. Check this Earth at the Block.

Your Crank Sensor Earths through the Block (metal section of Sensor) so make sure your Sensor is clean and shiny.

So it was just lack of Earth/Faulty Earth at the Block, causing your Crank Sensor CEL/Engine Start Failure.

Nice. ;D

Testing Resistance would have shown "Way" out of Spec. Indicating a Bad Earth at the Block.

Is the way a FPR works is to basically restrict the flow when on boost so the pressure backs up and increases? Or does it increase pressure another way? Could someone explain it a little more.

Also when using an external fuel pressure regulator (e.g not part of rails) what do you do with the 3rd fuel line? I have 3 from factory I know one is fuel in and one is fuel out but what is the other lines function?

Is there any way to identify which injector plug is for which cylinder? I forgot to label them :-\

A few questions I know haha. I\'m used to carburetors and this is my first injector tinkering mod

it regulates pressure . does this by having flow piling up behind an orifice .

its main use is to make the pressure across the injectors remain the designed pressure . so under vac the vac pulls the valve off the seat more and lowers pressure = amount to manifold vacuum . meaning there is still 3 bar pressure differential across the injectors . under boost it does the opposite .add a bar of boost to the plenum and you need to add a bar of pressure to the fuel .

The third hole on the fpr is probably the one that\'s for for a gauge (or second return line if you\'ve got split rails). Not sure how to March up the plugs to their injectors? If the factory ecu uses batch injection, it won\'t matter but I\'m not sure if it does. The long version would be to use a multi meter and an ecu pinout diagram and trace them one by one...

This is a photo of the lines. I see the fuel supply coming from filter but what are the others? Not talking about fuel regulator. Haven\'t brought that yet. Basically getting rid of the junk under manifold and replacing with new stuff

It\'s off a bc5 rs legacy

Ahh, now I get what you\'re looking at. The third is part of the breather system that goes through the charcoal filter. I have the third line disconnected and just poked straight down into a spare hole that\'s in the top of the chassis rail under the fuel filter.

Would these Eyelids stop me from getting a warrant in anyway? or would they be fine? H3oTEdC.jpg

They\'re a Factory Option aren\'t they? Can\'t fail a Wof.

The only reason for them to fail is if they mess with the Light Beam, but they won\'t because they\'re OEM option.

Yeah but the wof guy may not know they\'re a factory option, i don\'t think you would fail since light output isn\'t compromised but depends on your wof guys (or the officers) opinion on them at the time really

I have a ej207 v7 sti shorty in my car. Looking at maybe going twinscroll route

Which twinscroll sump do I need? Will any work? Say from a bl/bp gt legacy?

What about one of these?

Was looking at this myself. Comparing Pics, I think you\'ll only need this sump if using the Stock Matching Twin Scroll Headers. After Market Headers like Syms/Sims go around the normal EJ20 Sump.

I guess Subaru chopped the Sump to keep the Headers short for quicker Spool?

Edit: Shorter Headers would be much quieter too? Maybe they were trying to save on Steel costs and ran out of TT\'s to melt down.

What\'s the difference between an Orange Sticker BOV and a Blue Sticker BOV?

Guessing a different Spring inside? What are the Spring Rates for each?

Isn\'t it just the angle of the vacuum nipple that\'s different?

Sump/windage tray/pickup/headers/up pipe/brackets iirc. The legacy headers/brackets are different to STI ones unsure on inside of the sump.

Ive got a P25 to turn your turbo into T/S also... ;)

How do I tell what td05 I have?

The only markings on the housing are "715267-1" google search takes me to someone on nasioc who thinks it may be a blouch 20g or ebay knockoff

probally the latter, but I can\'t tell if it\'s a 16g/18g/20g?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
