In the market for an EZ30 Lancaster/outback although a lot of owners seem to use 91 regularly. My understanding was always that Subarus need 95 or 98 (especially turbo models). Is an EZ30 that's had 91 used in it regularly be a deciding factor as to whether I consider buying the car or not? Cheers and TIA.

You'd be hard pressed to find an Outback with an 'honest' owner using 95 :( I'd just try find one that is tidy, good service history and go from there

Mine knocks a lot on 98 ( totally standard car with factory tune ), so there's no way I'd buy one that I knew had been run on 91.

Yours must be a one-off or have some wear. Otherwise all EZ30's would be prone to that and they've got a good rep as a reliable engine

They all do it, you just can't hear it. I only know it knocks because I have the BtSsm plugged in and displaying all the time, so I can see it happening. Before I got the BtSsm I would never have known.

I’d be worried about general maintenance of everything else tbh

I got a Bp legacy at 232,xxxk, ive just done 50,000k this year in mine, got it this time last year. Only issue I’ve had was the a/c, power steering belt pulley bearing destroying itself

great cars, should have got one sooner

New Zealanders seem to have a huge issue with sticking the right / proper fuel in their cars.

I've watched people stick 91 into their 335's, S4's, WRX's  (makes a small part of me die internally).

In all fairness, no car should be running 91 ever, and JDM cars especially since they don't even fuel that drops to such terrible quality even available over there.

At least if you owned one, you'd have your own piece of mind knowing you're sticking the right kind of fuel in it.

If it's tuned for 91 what's the harm? Example would be the new Highlanders, spec'd for 91, run great on it. Our boat motor (Suzuki) specifies 91.

Suppose the difference being whether if its a Japanese import not. Unsure about newer model JDM imports if companies started tuning them for 91? I'm guessing 'NZ New' and market equivalents come factory tuned for 91 to accommodate for the s****y fuel ?

NZDM cars predominately come as AUS spec models and when indicated, are tuned to run adequately on 91. Even current gen NZ New Mazda 2.5 Turbo engines are spec'd to run 91...  ?

Interestingly, their latest SkyActiv X engine requires minimum 95 octane or higher for the 'homogenous' or compression ignition petrol engine...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
