I think it\'s 3.8mm so 3.5 is probably perfect (4mm fine). Transfer all Pills into the new hose, double checking every hose for a Pill.

Got my turbo back from shop and the chra isn\'t in the right spot... Can I just put some grips on it an twist it to the correct spot?

You mean the comp cover? It has a circlip just remove then turn it to where you want. The chra and turbine housing have a locating dowel.

Damn I can\'t get the circlip on. I don\'t have a strong enough criclip plier set so close yet so far away You\'d think the people I paid 400$ to rebuild it would have asked where I wanted it located before assembling it aye... Oil drain line pointing to the side haha. It does look damn nice now though

so looking at this locating dowel which I had assumed to have been changed the location of it would make the turbo outlet pointing south... Was always run pointing east towards the drivers strut tower. So that would mean the whole time it\'s been installed it wasn\'t sitting perfect... Will this cause me issues?

To have my car off the road for at least 2 years while I go overseas, would I be right in thinking I\'m best to just apply for an exemption from licensing each year I\'m away? As opposed to cancelling and therefore having to re-register when I return.

Yeah definitely just get the exemption and keep it on hold. Easy enough to do online as long as you don\'t forget to keep it up to date. I\'ve been doing mine online for a couple of years now and it just needs a wof before I can just pay for a new rego when it\'s time to go back on the road.

Looks pretty good with having the brass threaded adaptors. The rubber boot type ones are pretty useless, i have one and i don\'r really like it.

About right and handy to have. Ive got the hella/made by utilux one which does the 2 sizes. Easy to use and works well but no case. Go for gold I say.

Genuine question, can messed up tread wear cause louuud road noise?

Mrs mazda has very loud road noise, much worse on tar seal, like... that howling noise like real gnarly 4wd tyres make? Swapped tyres front to back and the sound definately changed, and 95% sure it isnt bung wheel bearings. Free revved it in gear on axle stands, just went vroom and sounded normal as. Noise is very loud inside the cabin, almost like a rumble, seems to have peaks of sound at like 40 and 80kphish but def changes with road surface. Tyres have worn weird cause it seems mazda 3s have a non adjustable factory rear camber of heaps which chews out rubber

Could a bad wheel balance also play a part? Or does that just cause the old vibratey steering wheel

What are the pressures like?

Pressures are normal... 34psi or something, checked the other day

Got me baffled, its a relatively new car so pisses me off even more. Google reckons im not the first with this model so thats semi reassuring

Yes, funny wear can cause funny noises

type and expense of tire can make a crap load of difference in noise

take it to a wheel alignment specialist ( NOT YOUR LOCAL TIRE PLACE) and see what they can do ( john Bates in Palmerston North would be one of the best places in NZ) they may be able to source something to make the rear adjustable.

road noises can be a real pain in the arse and can take along time to sort

have you checked that you dont have a bent/buckled rim ?

when i had linglongs on the car they made a funny sound and was worse on tar seal the same for the triangles thats why i stay away from cheap tires now days.

Going to check a bl5 turbo legacy today with 200+k on a clock - what should I pay particular attention to?

tranmission shiffting,

its had its 200km service

axles and cvs, and also rear wheel bearings (they die over time in the rear)

excessive turbo noise

other than that just your normal...

Check the central locking still works.

ah yes! i think you mean more specifically... the door locks internally can get sticky, so they always \'work\' but sometimes wont unlock / lock with central locking key..

usually rear doors - bastard things. Its the glue they seal the doors with gets into the mechanisms.

i thought it was the grease which they lubricated it with. It\'s gets into the electric motor and blocks the contacts

i can hear mine click away - as in they are jamming on something, sometimes i get the internal lock half opens etc.

yes going back to the single turbo t/s + AVCS arrangement they are getting better and a better performing set up

Had a look at the car, a bit rough outside/inside, didn\'t go for a drive (a hubby wasn\'t home), got receipts for transmission rebuild ($3.5k through mechanical warranty ) and the cambelt/service. The car is in Panmure, anyone at that area? Would love to hear a more knowledgeable opinion.
