Getting rid of speed cut?

hi a friend told me to get rid of speed cut u cut the wire going to ECU for vehicle speed sensor?? not sure if this is true or not or would cause any problems.

wont be suprised if you do that you will end up with a rev cut at ~4000rpm

I have a Pivot speed meter you can have for a good price if you're interested. $50. It inserts in the speed wire and removes cut. Also provides digital speed reading and 0-100m 0-200m 0-400m times. It works well. Got up to 218kph on Pukekohe, and speed meter kept memory of highest attained speed for after the event. Recently removed from my car as no longer required.

mate had a 05 h6 ob with 240k speedo nz new and he claimed to have got that to 220...

Don't know, never driven a BP really, really fast.

If it's got a 240km/h speedo probably not limited.

My NZ new STi v6 had the speed limiter.

A friend's NZ new STi v7 no limiter.

Another friend's NZ new STi v8 was limited.

Don't remember what speedos they had.

depends what car it is, I removed my speed cut via a flash, took about 5 mins.

id be keen for this al. my gear ratios are different so have an incorrect speedo

does it give the speed live?

pretty much : reads from the ecu speed wire tho so not entirely sure will help ya

the answer is no. on your car, no speed signal to the factory ecu = very rough running

you need a pivot or similar device, or a change to the ecu tune

skylines yes, its a simple cut the wire and you are away. rev d and newer, reflash can remove it. i assume track work then?

Yes it reads speed live. Jared's quite right - if you're speedo's reading wrong then so will the speedmeter. Uses the same speed wire. You would have to be a bit of an electrical wizz to change the speedo pulses ie with PIC or PLC or something. Got any old Omron PLC's lying around? It's possible but whether you would want to spend the time or not to make it is the question.

Jaycar sell a DIY kit for an electronic speedo recalibrator

on RA-Jays car some one had tried to do this ended up frying the ecu grounds and also would send it into limp dick mode doing about 4 pounds of boost and running like crap

My pivot speedo reads different speed than my analog/car speedo (pivot is accurate while the car speedo reads a bit higher)

I have tested it with different GPS units and pivot always the same as they are.

in saying this, i don't know how it was wired, as it was already fitted to the car when i got it

the speedo has a correction factor on it tho i beleive

so the pivot will be seeing the un corrected value and displaying it
