BP facing 98 supply issues

After being told that 3 stations in Christchurch who used to sell Ultimate 98 and now supplying 95, I decided to email BP and see what\'s up.

Their reply:

 

Hi,

Thank you for contacting BP.

BP Ultimate 98 is a very popular product with our customers and we have taken a proactive approach to ensure we can continue to keep supplying to our customer where we can. We have selected 13 sites nationwide where BP Ultimate 98 will be removed and replaced with Premium 95. This will be a permanent arrangement.

BP has insufficient supply to meet current forecast demands and action had to be taken in order to prevent a nationwide stock out.

The BP website will be updated as soon as possible with relevant information.

I find the above funny in the context of my local pak n save fuel reverting to BP branding and ADDING 98 a few weeks ago

That\'s ridiculous! ATM the BP is Dallington has no plans to switch to 95.

If that\'s the case is mobil fuel better than BP when it comes to 95? I get 15 cents a litre off through work so would be silly to use 95 from bp unless there\'s a good reason

I could have heard wrong but iirc Shell 95 (or Z now rofl) is meant to be the best 95 available in NZ

Gutted you guys are losing 98 - hopefully it doesn\'t happen up here I have a bad habit already of forgetting to fill up before the local closes and having to drive 20kms or so shitting myself to the 24/7 BP

Yeah I went to fill up at BP Riccarton yesterday, hopped out of car and went to grab the nozzle and it was yellow!!

Looks like we will all have to start running 95. I had to use 95 for 2 weeks when I was down in central otago, and to be honest I didn\'t notice a difference, although I\'m sure the ECU was adjusting the knock correction (IAM? Blair will correct me haha) to suit.

91/95 is all made in the same place in nz. Its all made out of imported low grade oil"sand" anyway.

98 is imported pre-refined so there could be supply issues.

just rang Fendalton Bp and they still stock it and said that hasn\'t herd anything about them switching to 95. so far looks like still 5 Locations in Christchurch area still selling it.

Haha nah your spot on Ben!, I\'m quite glad I got my car tuned on 95 now, I still think its rubbish how the south island is losing 98 because I still ran it when I could and It will piss a lot of people off.

I thought it said only 13 sites nationwide were going keep 98... glad it\'s only 13 sites being lost.

and fks sake im not driving to rolleston to get 98

gonna start tipping toluene in the tank . i have access to a fair amount and it was $2 a litre , whos keen ?

also type 14 Main Street, Blenheim into Google Maps and use street view and you will see there is BP2GO with Ultimate there!
