Got the downpipe installed! Success!

Dilemma:[/u] Turns out the Version 9 STi downpipe is a few inches longer than the Version 8 (equivalent to USDM downpipe length). The Tomei downpipe comes in Version 8 length. This means my midpipe is too short to properly mate up to the downpipe and it is definitely too loud to drive anywhere without being pulled up for noise. Don't know whether to buy a new pipe or have my current one extended at exhaust shop..

Also, decided to ditch the stock heatshield and have opted for a PTP turbo blanket which is en route :D Currently looking like:

Also also, got a huge fright at the smoking downpipe/heatwrap after a short test drive.

Cleaned it, slightly overheated it on way to work. Hummed and harred over the V5 STi engine on trademe, as the longblock I bought was just a v2 ra cdb with b4 heads. WRONG CR! -essentially the same as currently is either 8.5:1 or a bastard mix with 9.0:1 heads& 8.5:1 ra block...

Put the new 0.6mm (11044AA483) head gaskets back in the bag and ordered some 1.6mm MLS (11044AA463).

My version 7 EJ207 short block didn't come with version 7 EJ207 pistons (molybdenum, below deck at TDC).

At TDC these are 0.8mm above deck, so I had -0.2mm quench. (piston - head - kiss, kiss)

Installed new swaybar brackets and bushes in the rear of my Surf. Don't know why as it will probably snap the brackets again soon enough, but maybe it can have a WoF now.

Removed the crown nut off the upper balljoint, hit the taper with a hammer about 35 times, decided it wasn't coming out, reinstalled the crown nut :/

Not really an ideal way of removing ball joints, there is actually proper tools for doing it :) from a rather agricultural ball joint fork to a puller( what i use) bashing with hammer can cause the housing to deform

This is true... it's a bit of a funny spot though. BFH or shop press will be required, it's not one you can use a puller or a pickle fork on.

Look forward to getting the big Grey bastard back up to Raetihi though :D

4 new tyres, alignment and a WOF. Nitto Neo Gen asymmetrical same price but apparently "heaps betterer" than the Nitto NT555 directionals I had according to the dude that sold me the rims and tyres a couple of years back, haven't had enough of a hoon on them to make up my own mind yet, but so far so good!

Didn't do anything today but in the weekend I did an oil change on the legacy and the commodore and while having a quick look for leaks on the legacy noticed that the bolts on the passenger side coil packs were undone and the bracket for the O2 sensor on the bottom of the cam cover wasn't even attached... I'm guessing the mechanic who did the cambelt forgot check it all over when he finished. Oh well? I guess I won't be using them anymore. Especially since they are always reluctant to do anything on the legacy. I also switched my headlights to the gtb projectors!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
