Dumb Question Thread!

19mm spanner and sock set/breaker bar

Should come out quite easy...

if you're talking about the top nut that holds the spring in then it's similar to the sway bar links in that you need to put an allen key into the top and twist the nut with a open end spanner while holding allen key in place.

Rattle gun is definitely the easiest. A friendly shop should do it for you for nothing if they're not busy - takes 3 seconds. I haven't seen an Allen key slot on factory struts before? You'd need a fricken long Allen key if so - those nuts are tight!

The bilstein's in my gtb had the allen key hex but I had to weld a bar to a deep socket to be able to use it as I don't have those fancy pass through sockets and the nut was too deep for a spanner. Haven't seen that allen key hex on non-bilstein's though.

BOV line for anything other than the TT Legacy setups.

Ok so i shall have to fix this, i just used the existing T which is in a different location.

What is the stock vacuum hose size, as i will need to buy some new stuff to replace the cut one.

I've read 3mm and 4mm depending on what website you go to?

Pretty sure Rosssub knew the answer to that, think it was just the rear top hats that needed changing from memory.

Thats fitment though, wouldn't have a clue if the struts themselves are any different. Imagine so. even just individual years had very different feel for the BL/BP models as they realised they didn't need to be rock hard so progressively got softer each year

so; swapped an engine (engine + turbos ) for a mates b4, had done a HG , new engine in: now I need yet to bleed the clutch so I haven't clamped any of the tmic piping so it can come off when I have some fluid to bleed it. first start up smoked like a cünt (white smoke) then it died down, still a bit of smoke, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's more than likely from all the unmetered air getting in? slüt whistle on it works fine though, so that's a plus.

White smoke is probably oil. The initial hit could have been from oil somehow getting into the combustion chamber while it out of the car. Being moved or stored at the wrong angles or just something that some used to clean the intake with so I wouldn't worry too much about the initial startup smoke. If it carries on though there could possibly be issues. Maybe rings or valve seals. I had an old Vectra that had leaking valve seals and it would smoke a bit every time I started the car for about 10 seconds and that was about it.

yeah, my worries were rings or my mate having bought a dud.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
