Damn your Forester is getting some love! Any reason why you chose a Forester over a Impreza? Just thinking the Impreza would be the more ideal chassis for track work.. but you are quick in your Forester too..

Do you have any reading on how the EJ motors fall over at high RPM? I'm genuinely curious.

@Timmah Subarus were always designed for early onset of power/torque. Small plenum/long runners, geometry, cams and turbos designed for low end power. As for reading nope its a common knowledge thing talked about everywhere. Most of the dyno sheets i have i got on the proviso they werent mine to share so no help there. Sure to be a few in the dyno threads that show boost dropping from 4.5-5k. Generally tapers from 20 odd to 15-16psi. Pretty obvious on tmic where the iat starts to rise rapidly and the snail becomes less efficent. Adding a fmic helps to keep boost up.

Engines in stock form arent much good for making power/torque over 6-6.5k.

Of course every cars different so theres always a margin of error.

Forester was my brothers that he had since 60000km and looked after bloody well, so knew the history of how it had been looked after. Offered it to me cheap to use on the track and thought it good fun and different to have out around the tracks. Most of my work has been on getting the car to stop and turn like a impreza. next steep after turbo is sorted and tuned will be coil overs.

Dropped it off at macbilt so they can tune and hopefully stop it from using just as much oil as it did before I rebuilt the whole F***ing motor.

Ehhh..It's not residual oil in the exhaust burning off or are you having to add oil to top up?

Or crankcase venting not right..

Having to add a lot of oil... a litre every 300 kms... that's a big improvement though, it was a litre every 70km before the rebuild.

This has been going on for a year... I have replaced the valve stem seals, turbo, full short block rebuild, breather system has been

sorted, no leaks. I have suspected that it's over fuelling for a long time but been told by two tuners that it's not rich. The thing is

though that  the oil rings were rooted both times the tune was checked,  so I think that the amount of oil in the mix corrupted the

readings.

Third time is a charm... I just hope I haven't screwed the rings and/or bores already.

Who is tuning it this time?

Ahh, didn't know he tuned himself, thought Josh did it? But I haven't spoken to him in a while.

I don't know if he's tuning it personally... Just meant that he has the car and Ive only spoken to him about the problems and other stuff I want done.

@loner why wut how? S*** tune or mechanical?

I don't know yet, but am guessing the higher CR meant the tune was no good... I should have just taken it directly to get tuned rather than

thinking I could run it in first. I am basically a giant retard. I thought the moderate driving I was doing would be fine... Al said the det was really

loud... I couldn't hear a thing :(

Gutted! whats your plans now then?

Don't know yet... wait for more info... probably just start again and fix it. I don't have much choice... I can't sell it or use it.

Fingers crossed I haven't done much damage... I opened the oil filter that was on the engine for the first 500km

and there are only really small pieces of metal through it. Rick reckons from my description it's a normal amount

for a fresh motor.

Took my grill off to sand off the flaky chrome parts and repaint it. Ended up having to take the ENTIRE bonnet off to get the grill off as on of the bolts wouldn't come out. Ended up being a oscillating multitool, grinder, drill job... fml...

Got the grill off, gave it a real good sand, put the first lot of primer on, will put another cost on this arvo, then hopefully sand and paint tomorrow.

I was also very surprised at just how light my bonnet was. I knew it was light, but not that light

Took the BR9 Legacy to the track day since the SF5 forester is out of action, Forgot what it's like to drive on shitty (Goodride) tyres. Also cooked the pads on it and they failed after 2 goes. time for some new tyres and better pads i think!

xD sounds like you had fun while it lasted... :) . That forester looks legit tho... the forester is one of the only mainstream suv or whatever you call them that can actually be made to look awesome and also drive nice. One day I want to own one... :)

Bought some V7/8 Sti wheels, definately look the part on a lowered GC8, moreso than the stock 16's.

Also the wheel nuts I assumed were shanks are not, and have a tiny contact patch, they had even started unwinding themselves after some good drives this weekend :S

Off to pick up some proper wheel nuts at lunch today.

Are subaru shank nuts significantly smaller than nissan? Tried some of my mates wheel nuts and while the thread pitch matched they were way too wide to fit the wheels

The left side of the motor runs lean and the right runs rich... so possibly when an O2 sensor says it's not rich it's just the overall reading isn't rich... but I'm not sure if that's how those sensors work exactly.

Al suspects the cams are not dialled in correctly so is going to pull the motor to degree them. So that's the motor pulled 3 times in a year and I've only used it once!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
